One of Alex's favorite things to do is have me take of picture of him and then he loves to look at them. I hope this is not the starting of him being vain. It's just part of being two... right?
Ice cream anyone?
We went to see Alex's birth mother and her family to celebrate Alex's birthday. Yes he had four birthday cakes total. We love it.
Alex's birth family is amazing, we love them to death.
Alex opened up grandma's gift at grandma's so the piece's did not get lost. He loves his farm. It makes all sorts of animal sounds. Thanks grandma.
We went to visit Great grandma and Grandpa. They are so loving.
Got to love the picking the nose shot.
Alex's party with his cousins.
So I made my first ever cake with fondant. I made Lightning Mcqueen. Everything is edible and I did all the art on the cake. It took me a while that by the time we got it to the party I didn't want anyone to eat it and I didn't know how good it would have tasted either. I learned a lot making this cake and it was tonz of fun. I even bought an airbrush tool kit. I love it. I was so proud of myself. I can't wait to make my next cake. I hope to learn more and get better. I posted a lot of picture's of the cake, but hey, I think I did pretty okay for my first one.
Alex was a little scared of the candles.
Tires are doughnuts.
I even drew the headlights on this thing. Edible paper and edible markers are amazing.
playing with the cousins.
Alex's birthday party in Elko Nevada with our friends. We know how to party.
I started my project of making Alex's cake. I was going to make one for Elko and one for his party in Utah. Well I like to make things the best I can so I ended up only making the one. Here is the beginnings of the cake making.
Hiking up Lamoile Canyon. It is beautiful. At first we were just going to walk up the trail a bit. Then we decided to go for it. We were going to hike to the lakes. two and a half miles later up the trail we turned around. I forgot my inhaler and we did not have any water or food. Oops! maybe next time I will remember to be prepared. Plus we didn't want to become one of the statistics. You know, the ones that you hear about on the news. The search and rescue team has to go out to get them, all because they did not intend on hiking that far and weren't prepared.
Salt Flats 0 to 60. Well not in the Toyota.
We decided to go camping. We didn't want to go far, nor were we prepared on spur of the moment to go out into the wild so we opted for a KOA in Wendover, Nevada. Never again.... It was miserable. What were we thinking. The heat in the tent was unbearable. I thought I was going to die. Okay not die, but hello spruce the place up a bit. I could have camped better next to the Casino... oh wait we were next to the Casino. Don't believe everything you see in pictures. I guess it was good family bonding time.
The 24th of July!!!! My Birthday! What a great holiday in Utah.
Yummy Popsicle!
Spencer and I get board and when we get board we explore. We discovered this ghost town just outside of Wells, Nevada. Metropolis. It was pretty cool. The cemetery had really old people buried in it. Some people were buried there as recently as 2010 though. This is a picture of the school that was there.
I love girls camp. The best part is going as a leader. Two years in a row I have been blessed to serve with the Young Women in Elko in two different wards. I love them so much. My mom actually made all the flower hair bows for our camp. Thanks mom!
Our awesome friends got us an underground mine tour. Gold anyone?! It was really cool. I have never seen anything like it.
We decided to stop by the Salt Flats on the way home from Utah.
He knows how to beg for food.
Alex and Grandpa
Alex, Megan, Heidi and Ashlee. He gets all the hot babes. Okay well they are his cousins, but they are pretty hot babes.
