Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

We decided to save some money and post our Christmas card on our blog. It has been an eventful year with the move, and we feel so blessed to have Alex in our home. We want to wish every one a Merry Christmas and let them know we love them and are so grateful for everyone's love and support. Thanks to my sister Elicia for taking our family pictures and making our Christmas card.

Thursday

I know I have been bad at updating our blog. This is probably because I have been updating Alex's blog. I made him his own little private blog so family, friends and most important his birth mother can see. It is private, but if you would like to be invited let me know and get me your email address. Here are some cute pics of our little guy. He turned two months on Monday. He is getting so big. He has his official nick name, Monkers. It started because we thought he had really long arms so Spencer started calling him his little monkey. Now it has become monkers. So if we refer to him a "monkers" you know why.
I have to thank Julie for lending us her Boppy. It is the only place, besides dads chest, that he will sleep soundly.

Dusty still has to be wherever Alex is.
Our little Frog prince.
More pics on Alex's blog.

Sunday

This Picture is one that our friend Natalie took. Our little boy is just so photogenic.

Alex

My little sister took some pictures of Alex. This one is my favorite.

Alex Joel "AJ"

After over 5 years of waiting, our little angel was placed in our
arms, by his beautiful birth mother, on September 12, 2009.
Little Alex was born on 9/9/09 at 11:14 am.
He weighed 5lbs 10 oz and 18 inches long.
The moment he came into this life, he had more people
that love and care for him than anyone could imagine.

I don't have a way to post to upload pictures from my camera
so this one is from my phone. We will post many more later.

Monday

Random

So one day we were on our way up to Layton from Elko, NV and Dusty decided that he wanted some of my drink.  O.K. so it was all gone except the ice, but it was so funny to watch him try to get to the ice.  He had to stick his whole head in the cup.

Friday

The internet!!!

Yeah for the internet!  I have been living without it for the last month.  I didn't realize how much I used the little addictive tool.  I was doing o.k. with out it, until I was asked to give a talk in church.  Let me tell you, the old methods of writing a talk are far too difficult. I felt lost without being able to check my bank account every day.  My Blog, well I wasn't the best at that lately anyhow.  Facebook, well I don't really use it so I didn't miss that.  There are just the little things, like, checking other peoples blogs, email, looking up a phone number or mapping something out.  Well we are back online and ready to go.  Spencer had the internet at work so he is not as excited as I am.

Wednesday

Oh my goodness, oh my goodness!!

So, I am not quoting the movie Annie.  I am simply stating that our lives have been yet again hectic.  I have had too many people tell me lately, that our lives are not boring.  If only I could say that wasn't true.  So many things have been going on in our world in the last 6 months.  I am afraid if I told you everything, did you would all be bored out of your mind so I will just update you on a few things.  Spencer got a promotion, I quit my job and am now staying at home, we are in the process of moving, and Dusty got really sick and almost died.

Spencer's Promotion and Staying at home.
So I am officially a "home maker"  You would think that I would be bored at home or have all the time in the world to just sit around and knit or something.  It has been the exact opposite.  With Spencer at work most of the week and traveling back and forth, until our house sells, I have been left to clean, pack, and do yard work all by myself.  (OK, so I have called my mommy up and employed her help as well as my little brothers)  In fact my mom and little brother have been life savers.  One day we will get moved.  We are looking at tentatively Saturday July 25th.  I think it finally sunk in when I reserved a UHAUL.  I cried after I got off the phone with them. I am seriously going to miss everyone.  I know we are not moving far, but it is still a change.

Dusty
Now to Dusty.  He wasn't up to his normal eating on Sunday.  We didn't think anything of it.  He only ate his doggy treats on Monday and a little water.  All in all he was pretty upbeat.  Tuesday he threw up in the morning.  When he threw up for the second time I noticed a tiny bit of blood.  It made me a little nervous.  He threw up about two more times, but no blood was in the throw so I stopped worrying too much.  I just decided to make an appointment for the vet the next day and watch him.  If you get woozy you may want to stop reading.  Around 1:00 I took Dusty outside and sat on the grass.  A little boy walked by and asked if he could pet Dusty.  I told him yes, and prepared myself to hold Dusty down so he would not jump all over the poor unsuspecting boy.  Nothing!  Dusty just sat there and did not move.  That is when I thought something serious might be wrong.  So around 3:30 Dusty needed to go to the bathroom.  He did the normal doggy squat to go #2.  That is when I freaked out.  All that came gushing out was runny blood. It wasn't just a little.  I was hysterical.  I thought our little puppy was dying.  We hurried and called vet.  They would be closed by the time we would get there so I had to take him to the Animal ER.  When I got there the Vet looked him over for a minute and quickly diagnosed him with HGE.  Dusty was so out of it.  His eyes looked like they were rolling into the back of his head. The Vet kind of explained what it was and they whisked our little Dusty away for emergency overnight treatment.  The Vet then told me that he was in critical condition and could possible die.  I about lost it right there.  He told me to go home and google it.  I just don't think he wanted to tell me how bad it was himself.   Seriously HGE is not funny stuff.  Dogs can die within hours of noticing the symptoms.  Dusty went from happy go lucky puppy with a little spit up to incoherent in 5 hours.  The good news is he is feeling sick, but he is doing much better.  I picked him up this morning and he has been eating and drinking water.  The bleeding looks like it has stopped.  Our regular Vet looked him over today and is going to see him again tomorrow morning.  Poor guy.  We just want to see him jumping up and down again.

Well there is a little bit of what has been going on in our lives.  I am excited for Friday, because it is my Birthday! I am not excited that I will be 27 years old.  Three more years and I will be 30... Cry me a river right!?!  I will have to take pics and post them.  I have been such a slacker.  You all have a great 24th of July!!

Thursday

Fun Stuff

So, I decided to post some of the pictures I took over the weekend and some pictures my little sister took back about a month ago. This post is just a description of the slide shows below.

The first slide show is the pictures my little sister took of me, Spencer and Dusty.  She did a good job, but she didn't have much to work with as models.  Lets face it, some people are made to be in front of a camera, and we are not that type of some people.

The second slide show is the pictures we took on Sunday.  We drove up to a field near Hill Air Force Base and snapped some shots of the air show that was going on.  These pics are not as good as my brothers, but they work.  It decided to down poor right as the Thunderbirds came out.  It did stop shortly after and they finished with a bang.

The third and final slid show is the pics I took on Saturday at my house.  The air show was both days and I just decided to snap these off my back porch.  It is really cool what you can see right in our back yard.

If you want to see the slide  shows larger, just click on them.

FOR SALE!!

So we have two things for sale right now.
First we have our 1999 Mitsubishi Gallant.  It doesn't run, but we are selling it for $800 OBO smackers.  Spencer is not a mechanic and we don't want to fix it up because we have two cars now, and with the Gallant it makes 3.
SOLD!!!!!
one down one to go.

Second, we are selling our HOUSE!!  We are moving and need to sell pronto. If you know anyone in the market up in Davis County, just let us know.   This is not the most recent pic of our house, but we will post one later.  Right now it is all green and lush.

Family Photo Shoot

I totally forgot to post these pics.  We had someone take these pictures of Spencer's family on Mother's Day.  It's totally hard to get 39 people to all have there eye's open at the same time.  I have photoshopped the one with just the kids and grandparents.  I bet you can't tell which kids I photoshopped.  I enjoy that kind of stuff.  I will have to work on the whole group one later.  I don't have that much time tonight. Of course you might have to click on the pictures to actually see the people. When you have so many people and chop it down to this size it makes it really hard to see anyone.  LOL!

Sunday

BBQ

This weekend was full of fun BBQ's.  Friday we went over to our neighbor/friends house for shish-kabobs on the grill, that were wonderful.  The company was great too.   On Saturday we went to our friends house for steak.  Yummy!  Greg thought he ruined them, but I thought they were awesome.  Their little boys were so adorable.  After we ate we had s'mores over a fire pit in their back yard.  They were awesome too.  Their little boy stuck some of the marshmallows in all the holes of his little tykes basketball hoop.   I don't have any pictures from this weekend. I will have to remember my camera next time.  We had a great time this weekend. Thanks guys!!

Tuesday

Dusty and the car

Our poor Dusty today decided to finally take his chance when Spencer opened the gate.  He darted out of the gate to the back yard, into the garage, where his bone was of course, and into the road as fast as he could.  The little black car slammed on his brakes as hard as he could.

I was in the house and herd Spencer scream.  I couldn't tell what was going on.  I ran down the stairs as fast as I could because I herd the loud screeching outside.  At first I thought something had happened to Spencer because Dusty came right to the back door.  Then two seconds later Spencer came running around the back yelling that Dusty had been hit by a car.  Our poor new neighbor up the street didn't even see him coming.  I feel bad for Dusty, but this one was his fault.   As Spencer describes it, Dusty ran with his bone in mouth right into the back wheel of the car.  He bounced off the wheel and the car ran over the bone. Poor guy probably thought he ran over Dusty. Dusty has a few bumps and scraps, but he is doing well.  I just feel bad for the driver of the car.  I would be crying my eyes out if I thought I hit some little animal.

Let this be a lesson to all little kids. Look both ways before you cross the street!!

Monday

Elko

We took a trip down to Elko on Friday.  We had a great time.  On Saturday we drove up Lamoile Canyon.  It was absolutely beautiful.  This canyon was formed by glaciers and there are so many waterfalls.  I guess there are a lot of big horn sheep too, but we didn't see any.  We did see some deer and plenty of prairie dogs on our way up.  These pictures just don't do it justice.

Our drive home Sunday was good.  I fell asleep half way and was rudely awaken by the sound of hail on the car.  It hailed so hard and there was about 3 to 4 inches of hail on the road.  It was crazy.  It's not a long drive at all either.  It was about 3 hours.
Of course Spencer has to concentrate while driving.  I think he was a little tired.
More pics of the canyon.  There was a lot of snow at the top.

Shopping!!

So my mom and I went shopping.  Do you know how long it has been since I have been like actually shopping.  You know besides groceries and the occasional I need a shirt or a pair of pants shopping.  It felt so good.  I forgot how good it is to just go shopping, when you aren't looking for anything in particular.  Even though the things I totally love don't look good on me.  I picked out some really cute things I think.  I have this thing with jackets.  I love jackets.  I have this black Roxy jacket that I have worn to death.  It is so comfy.  I bought this really cute jacket, a light weight one.  It is sooooo soft inside.  It's very similar to my Roxy one, just green and it's AE.  I bought a couple of things for work at New York and Company and my mom bought my little sister and I some tanks at Pac Sun.  I like them because they are not tight and con-finding.   I was on a natural high when I got home.  Some times that doesn't happen when I go shopping, as Spencer would tell you.  So if anyone is up for another shopping trip in about a month when I get paid again, let me know.   I didn't even hit the shoe store so that is a must next time.

Finally Pictures!

Ok, ok, so I have been very delinquent in posting.  I am usually on the ball and reminding every one else about posting and wanting to see more pictures.  So, now they have fairly nagged me to get something on my blog.  I am waiting to get some pictures of me and Spencer from my little sister and some family photos we just took on Mother's day.  Here are some from Easter and of my little sis.
Spencer and I, well let's face it we got bored and Easter would not be Easter without coloring some Easter eggs.  Although the Easter Bunny did not come to our house this year and hide them.  We will have to report him to higher authorities.

Here is my little sis, being my little sis!  I love her a lot.
Boys she is single, but you have to go through an extensive application process to get to her and I hear there is a long waiting line.
Spencer observing the cookie decorating.
(more like waiting to pounce at the first sign of any finished cookie left unattended)
Our nephew Ryan and his delicious cookie.  He was so proud of the amount of frosting he could get on one cookie.
Angie, caught red handed in the cookie jar!
Yummy cookie and I decorated it!

Thursday

What happened to April?!?

It's been a while since we have posted anything. April was a crazy weird month for us. So we had Easter and then Spencer's parents farewell. People coming home from missions and people going on missions. Were trying to get a handle on life at the moment. Nothing really exciting to say the least. We helped our friends move into their new home on Friday. Well we tried. We got there after we got off work and they were pretty much finished. We did manage to play their Guitar Hero and thats when Spencer decided he had to have it too. I hope they are not mad at us for short sheeting their bed though! Spencer and I did have our 6th anniversary of the day we met and Dusty's birthday is today. He is a year old now. Still acting like a cute little puppy though. The really sad news that we have is that our cute little parakeet died. I didn't think I would be so sad, but I was. I cried. Spencer got him for me for my birthday about 4 years ago. We will miss little QT. I will have to post some pics this weekend of our April.

Sunday

Conference Weekend

So, Friday we were bored and decided to go up to the Hill Air Force Base Museum.  Neither of us have been there since we were young grasshoppers.  We drive past it all the time.  Every time we drive past we say that we need to go there.  So on Friday, we did.  They have some pretty cool stuff there.

What is this thing behind Spencer?  Is that a phone booth?  Wow!
A really, really, really, big helicopter.
Criscell in the pilots seat.
Spencer in the pilots seat.
Saturday we took a drive.  It was fun.  Every Conference Saturday we take a long drive and listen to Conference.  I have family from down in Southeastern Utah.  We usually head North, but decided to change it up a little.  This is the Vernal Temple.  The Steak Center next door is twice the size.  I think it is really pretty though.
Here is the snow storm that we got caught in on our way home.  I thought we were going to die.  The roads were so slick.
Spencer's parents were able to get some tickets to the Sunday morning session of General Conference.  Spencer and I lucked out, we are the only ones in the family without kids so it was an easy pick I guess since they had four tickets and there was only two of us.  JK  Every one else probably turned them down.  Spencer and I have never been.  It is really hard to get tickets when you live in Utah. We had to be in our seats way early.  Conference doesn't start until 10 am but the Mo Tab has there Music and the Spoken Word right before.  We were in our seats by 8:30.  It was a great experience.  We had really close seats too.

Friday

April Fools

So, let's face it I like jokes and I like to have a little fun.  April Fools has been on my mind for a while.  I wanted to do something that would be a nice surprise.  Something that everyone could enjoy.  Everyone knows all the little tricks like taping down the phone receiver, and putting a rubber band around the sink sprayer.  I went the night before and bought 200 feet of aluminum foil.  We got to work early and some of my co-workers helped my foil our managers entire desk.

If that wasn't enough we had some foil left over. What to do, what to do?  So we decided to do the big boss' office.

So we decided to wait until the next day to play a little trick on one of our loan counselors.   This idea I got from Spencer.  We handed him a little sticky note that said

Please call Myra Maines
801-***-****
Myra Maines
has been calling for you and
wants you to call back

So of course he calls and we are all watching.  The number we gave him was to a mortuary.   Get it now?!  He calls, asks for Myra Maines and sits there for a minute.  We hear him say to the person on the other line.  OK will you just have her call Trevor.... What?  So we are sitting there thinking, did he actually call?  later I decided that I just needed to know what was going on, so I asked.  Turns out he was fooled, but in return fooled us.  He had called and asked for Myra Maines.  The good sport man at the Laverkin Mortuary, told him to turn around, that someone was probably laughing behind him and he needed to get us back for the prank we had pulled on him.  I can only imagine how many mortuaries get that call.  Our Counselor smoothly hung up the phone and said OK will you just have her call Trevor back.  Then proceeded to tell us she was on break and would call back.  It was hilarious!  I guess you had to be there.

Bathroom

Yeah my bathroom is all painted!  I could not choose a color for so long.  Finally I decided to go find a shower curtain I really liked choose a color from there.  I got the shower curtain and hundreds of swatches of paint colors.  I had picked out the perfect match to the blue flowers on the curtain.  I was going to send Spencer out the door to get the paint with my perfect swatch.... and then I changed my mind.  I was looking at the package from the shower curtain and decided that I liked a color on there better.  So, as Spencer is walking out the door I hand him the new swatch and ask him to have Lowe's match the color.  I love the color!  I love the bathroom.  Now all I need is the tile, baseboards, vanity installed, and a mirror.
